WHARENUI GATORS APPOINT NEW CLUB MANAGER

Canterbury Basketball Association's club of the year, Wharenui Gators, is delighted to announce the appointment of Sidney (Sid) Tauamiti as it's new club manager.

Sid is an experienced community and social development professional, as well as having years of experience in community and elite sports, including a role as the 'voice' of the Canterbury Rams at home games.

''Sid is the ideal person to build on the progress Wharenui Gators has made in meeting the needs of our local community to participate in the game of basketball,'' says Club President Faith Harrison.

''Gators' mission is not simply to provide basketball opportunities for players, coaches and officials, it is to use the sport of basketball to have a positive impact on people's lives.

''Sid has a great skill set and experience for advancing our plans for the club, with an ability to engage with a diverse range of communities.''

Faith paid tribute to the work of outgoing club manager Zach Lilburne, pointing to his work in growing the club in terms of playing members, but also the number of programmes it ran and the local schools it was connected with.

Sid starts with the Gators on Tuesday 26th October.
